The Assistant Coach is responsible for assisting with the overall organization, direction, supervision and administration of an NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball program. Duties include: assisting the head coach in all aspects of daily operations of the program, recruiting student athletes within the rules and philosophy of the NCAA, PSAC, and Mansfield University; evaluating personnel; emphasizing academic priorities to student athletes; assist with organizing/conducting practices and games; related administrative tasks; fundraising; and maintaining appropriate communication with students, other coaches, university staff, parents, and alumni.
Essential Functions:
Recruiting, scouting, extensive driving, and use of organizational and computer skills required. Teaching-related skills and the ability to take direction from the head coach are essential. Ability to work with limited supervision. Communicate and work effectively with a wide variety of constituents, including alumni, friends, parents, faculty, campus staff and local community. Ability to relate to and communicate with high school and college student-athletes and coaches throughout the recruiting region. Must work effectively in a team environment. Working nights and weekends is required.
