Northwest Nazarene University (NNU) Athletic Department competes at the NCAA Division II level. NNU is a member of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) which is comprised of the following ten members: University of Alaska-Anchorage, University of Alaska-Fairbanks, Central Washington University, Montana State University-Billings, Northwest Nazarene University, Saint Martin’s University, Seattle Pacific University, Simon Fraser University, Western Oregon University, and Western Washington University. NNU offers the following seven sports for women: volleyball, cross-country, soccer, indoor track & field, basketball, softball, and outdoor track & field. NNU offers the following seven sports for men: cross-country, golf, basketball, indoor track & field, baseball, soccer and outdoor track & field.
Description of Position
Northwest Nazarene University is accepting applications for the position of Second Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach. This position is a non-benefited, part-time, Intern position. It is imperative that applicants possess strong administrative and organizational skills, with special emphasis on time management and attention to detail. Applicants must also be effective written and verbal communicators, have an advanced knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office programs, and a strong commitment to athletic and academic success. While there will be an opportunity to recruit and take part in on-court coaching, the primary focus of the position will be to implement and execute the administrative and operational aspects of the Men’s Basketball program. The applicant will be responsible for administrating travel, equipment, scheduling facilities, apparel, summer camps, player housing, travel expense summaries, credit card statements, invoices, compliance, and day to day operations of the office. The applicant will be influential in the aspects of recruiting, on-court coaching, opponent scouting, video, game scheduling, academics, communication with campus departments, community service engagements, team managers, budget development/analysis/recap/balancing, recruiting visits, player/parent contact and communication, game day related duties, film exchange program, and other duties as assigned by the head coach/assistant coach.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree, required

High motivation and commitment to the University, including the ability to self-start, be calm under pressure, meet deadlines, work without direct supervision, be able to multi-task, problem-solve, and relate to a variety of personalities under diverse circumstances
Ability to pass the annual NCAA Division II recruiting exam
Ability to obtain and maintain current First Aid and CPR card
Ability to obtain NNU driving certification
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Collegiate level coaching or playing experience
Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
