The Athletic Department at Riverland invites applications for a part-time, seasonal Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach. The Assistant Coach will assist the Head Coach in the overall management of a NJCAA men’s basketball program in accordance with Department and College objectives. The Assistant Coach will support the Head Coach and other assistant coaches in an effort to plan, coach, and develop individual and team technical and tactical skills. This position will assist in recruiting quality student-athletes; scouting opponents; maintaining positive working relationships with sports medicine and strength and conditioning; and performing administrative duties including: student-athlete academic monitoring and eligibility; budget and roster management; court preparations and maintenance; organization and scheduling of practices, home games, clinics, and fund-raising; and other duties assigned by the Head Coach.

The Assistant Coach will also be responsible for team and individual compliance to training rules and bylaws which govern the program including monitoring student-athlete conduct to ensure the behavior of the athletes reflects favorably on the program, the department, the College, and on the students themselves.

The Assistant Coach is a valued member of the Athletic Staff and will contribute to the mission of Riverland and the Athletic Department.  The successful candidate will demonstrate an understanding of, and commitment to, the Division III ideal and the important role intercollegiate athletics plays in higher education. The Assistant Coach will conform to the highest standards of professional conduct regarding compliance with department and College policies and procedures and adherence to the rules and regulations of the NJCAA and MCAC, of which the College is a member.  The Assistant Coach will contribute to the maintenance of good working relationships with all staff, student-athletes, and external constituents through a positive and constructive approach to all tasks, respect for the competencies of others, and appropriate conflict resolution behavior.
