Description:

– Responsible for assisting the head coach in the development, management, and successful coaching of the TAMIU basketball teams, to include scheduling, recruiting, equipment management, reporting scores and statistics, and website updating. Assist in managing and operating within budget parameters, without exception. Assist in submitting all receipts and budget reports on time as directed by Director of Athletics. Ensure strict adherence to all NCAA by-laws and Heartland Conference regulations. Ensure adherence with established institutional compliance rules, policies, and procedures as well as ethical standards of behavior. Ensure satisfactory academic performance of student-athletes. Ensure the physical, emotional, and social welfare of student-athletes, including issues related to gender, ethnic diversity, and sexual orientation. Establish and ensure a safe environment for student-athletes that includes providing education about and methods for discussing and resolving harassment or discrimination. Assist the head coach in successfully coaching the TAMIU basketball teams, to include maximizing the team’s potential/abilities, keeping athletes eligible, and retaining athletes through graduation. Assist in supervising and mentoring coaching assistants as directed and approved by Director of Athletics. Assist to propagate a comprehensive public relations program. Assist in managing the operations of sport camps and/or clinics. Assist in managing all department fund-raising and booster events in accordance with NCAA, Heartland Conference, and institutional rules, policies, and procedures. Learn, understand, and adhere to all NCAA guidelines and maintain up-to-date rosters, squad lists, and other information using the Compliance Assistant Internet (CAI) program. Assist in coordinating and developing organized schedules and submitting weekly countable hours report according to NCAA policy. Participate in long-range planning and assessment, attend all departmental training sessions and meetings, read and comply with all departmental policy manuals. Teaching load may be required. Additional off-season coaching duties may be required. Perform other related duties as assigned.
