The Assistant Coach is one of the positions responsible for administering all of the year-round activities of the basketball program. The Assistant Coach is directly responsible to the Head Coach in all matters related to the operation of this program.

The Assistant Coach is responsible for handling game and practice coaching assignments throughout the year, as well as, supervising out-of-season conditioning programs for the team.

The Assistant Coach will serve as the Recruiting Coordinator and oversee all recruiting efforts of prospective student-athletes and will coordinate recruiting strategy, in conjunction with the Head Coach, for the men’s basketball program. Development and coordination of a recruiting network is an ongoing activity requiring travel throughout the United States during the entire year. The Assistant Coach will use discretion and personal judgment in the assessment of talent and recommendation for scholarship assistance.

Once the student-athlete has matriculated, the Assistant Coach is primary in the weekly monitoring of the student-athletes’ academic progress. The Assistant Coach will communicate with the department’s Spartan Academic Support Services (SASS) personnel and assist in student-athletes’ academic action plans. Other administrative duties related to this position would include providing assistance with scheduling of contests, summer camps, as well as, speaking engagements.

This position requires evening and weekend assignments. This is a full-time, non-teaching, 12-month position. The position is available June 29, 2015.
