The person will be a member of the UNCP faculty and must be eligible to teach in the UNC system. Teaching responsibilities will be 6 hrs per semester assigned within the HPER Dept and School of Education, with a strong preference for candidates that can teach recreation. The person will report to the Head Basketball Coach and be assigned essential tasks that may include, on and off campus recruiting, development of a competitive Division II schedule, budget management of assigned funds, effectively work and communicate with students, coaching staff and related publics, possess knowledge of overall basketball skills in order to develop players in every position, adherence to, and promotion of, NCAA rules and compliance to staff, student-athletes and representatives of athletic interest, successfully complete NCAA recruiting exam, team building, and community and public relations. The candidate will demonstrate an understanding and commitment to athletic programs at NCAA Division II level, have a commitment to the academic mission of the university, a commitment to the academic success of the student-athletes, serve as a positive role model for student-athletes, work well with students, faculty, staff, and community. The candidate should also have a demonstrated understanding and strong commitment to cultural diversity.
A master’s degree is required in physical education, recreation, exercise science, health or closely related field.
