POSITION:
Full-time academic year (50% assistant men’s basketball coach/50% outdoor facility maintenance coordinator and McPhee/Olson events) academic staff position in the Athletics Department and University Recreation & Sport Facilities beginning August 24, 2015. This position will report to the Head Men’s Basketball Coach and Assistant Director of Recreation & Sport Facilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree and prior college experience may be considered an asset. Demonstrated success in areas of responsibility. Strong leadership and communication skills. A commitment to athletic excellence within an academic environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist the head men’s basketball coach in directing a highly successful program within the guidelines of the University, the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC), and NCAA Division III. Assist in the recruitment and retention of qualified student athletes consistent with the academic standards of the University. Assist with the care and inventory of equipment for the program. Assist with the promotion of the sport with students, alumni, and members of the community. Assist with promoting program revenue generation related to the program. Participate in department fundraising and public relations events. Set up, groom, line and maintain 46 acres of outdoor recreational space and related equipment for the intramural program, Sports Clubs and Varsity Athletics including but not limited to: drag and line six softball/baseball fields (water infields as needed), maintain bases, fences, benches, and bleachers, set up and maintain lines/goals on four football, two soccer, one Ultimate Frisbee, one rugby recreational field, and maintain outdoor volleyball courts. Coordinate with sport facility program manager and maintenance staff on daily and weekly projects on outdoor spaces. Assist with set-up and take-down and facility supervision for special events. Attend all University Recreation staff meetings, retreats, and trainings. Must be flexible especially in terms of hours worked since late evening, weekend, and holiday work will be a necessity. Assume other duties as agreed upon by the Assistant Director of Recreation & Sport Facilities, Head Men’s Basketball Coach and Athletics Director.
