Description: We are looking for assistant coaches for our Summer Academy program hosted at Georgetown Preparatory School in North Bethesda, Maryland. 

History of program: Global Squad was founded in 2011 by John Alexander, a former international student, who created the program with a vision of helping students living overseas that have a dream of playing college basketball in the US. The Summer Academy provides students in a similar background to John’s with the following: 

  • Gaining a better understanding of what it takes to play at a collegiate level in the US ● Training with high level coaches to develop their skills on the court, weight room and more ● Understanding the independent living skills required in college while developing cross cultural relationships from kids growing up in similar scenarios to their own 

Job description: You will be the assistant coach of one of our boys or girls teams for the duration of the camp. Your main responsibilities will be to help run the daily programming of our camp & on the weekends assisting with one specific team while they compete in tournaments. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Attend the Global Squad staff orientation on June 25th starting at 6:00PM at Georgetown Preparatory School 
  • Lead daily skills or shooting stations for all athletes 
  • Get to know each camper & serve as a positive influence 
  • Film games & assist head coach during weekend tournaments 
  • Assist with referring daily competitions and training 
  • Assist with the arrival and departure of students from campus during the beginning & end of camp ● Assist with supervising your team during off campus activities 
  • Participate in a team bonding session each week 
  • Assist head coach with their in-depth evaluation for each member on your team at the closing of camp (both written and verbal) 
  • Assist with film, classroom sessions, and other tasks as needed 
  • Assist with team laundry, dorm duty & other administrative tasks as required 

Requirements: 

  • Played (or currently playing) or coached basketball in college and/or professionally 
  • Must be able to pass a background check & work on a school campus 
  • Ability to operate iPads and other technology related to film 
  • Must have at least 2 years of coaching experience 
  • Must be willing to relocate to North Bethesda, MD for the dates of June 25 – July 21, 2026 ○ Housing & Food are provided during this time – Must live on campus

This is an independent contractor position, your payment will be made to you weekly via a direct deposit. ● Food & Housing provided
