The responsibilities of the Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach are to conduct all aspects of the men’s program within the philosophy and guidelines set forth by Alderson Broaddus University, the NCAA, and the Mountain East Conference.

The expectations of the assistant men’s basketball coach include but are not limited to: commitment to the mission of Alderson Broaddus University, meeting the established recruiting goals of the athletic department, conducting practices and meetings, assisting with budget oversight, travel planning, fundraising, and completion of any duties assigned by the Head Men’s Basketball Coach and the Director of Athletics.

Functions: 

1.) Meet the assigned recruiting goals for each year.

2.) Assistant in the development of the players.

3.) Monitor the academic progress of student-athletes within the men’s basketball program.

4.) Help ensure eligibility of student athletes in the men’s basketball program. 5.) Assist with the retention of a satisfactory number of recruited student athletes. 6.) Monitor the social behavior of student-athletes within the men’s basketball program.

7.) Ability to exercise good judgment in problem resolution situations. 8.) Assist with men’s basketball operations including equipment management, laundry, and video.

9.) Perform duties as assigned by the Head Men’s Basketball Coach. 10.) Participate in community and campus life opportunities.

11.) Any additional duties as assigned by the Head Men’s Basketball Coach or the Director of Athletics.

Qualifications: 

1.) Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

2.) Previous college coaching experience preferred.

3.) Knowledge or experience in recruiting student-athletes.
