The Athletic Department at Bethune Cookman University invites applications for Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach / Director of Operations. This is a 12-month staff position.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Assist with all aspects of the men’s basketball program; provides opportunities that challenge and support student-athletes to reach their full potential;
• Support student-athlete academic and athletic excellence, leadership development and community engagement;
• Adheres to and enforces all policies and procedures of the department and the University, as well as the rules and regulations of the NCAA, SWAC Conference, and any other authorities that affect the intercollegiate athletic program;
• Assist in team development including establishing goals, objectives, and values for the program consistent with mission of Athletics Department;
• Assists in motivating student-athletes to perform to maximum levels;
• Assists with the conditioning and training of team members in conjunction with the training; unit to ensure that student-athletes are physically prepared for competition;
• Utilizes sound teaching techniques in the preparation of games and practices.
• Handle and oversee all travel and transportation for the team.
• Hire, train, and supervise Work Study and Student employees.
• Academic liaison between team and campus. Oversee class checks and study hall, at home and on the road.
• Submit all information to compliance regarding CARA and other program reporting
• Assist in organization of various aspects of the program to include but not limited to Travel, gear, scouting, recruiting, academics, scheduling, and other day to day responsibilities as assigned by the head coach.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Organizational Skills: Detail oriented and strong ability to follow up

Network: Strong network of existing contacts in some or all of the following: NCAA/JUCO/NBA

Recruiting: Experience and history of success in recruiting at college level along with a deep desire to learn more.

Strong Academic Background: Please attach any academic achievements or highlights from your schooling.

Availability: Flexibility a must, able to work nights, weekends, and holidays
