Description:
The assistant men’s basketball coach will report directly to the head men’s basketball coach and is directly responsible for the following duties:
  • Direct support of the vision, goals and strategies of the head coach
  • Serves as a teacher in practice and competition with respect to individual and team skill development for the men’s basketball program.
  • Is certified to recruit high caliber student-athletes to attend and compete for the university.
  • Supervises practice, skill sessions, study hall and team travel under the supervision of the head coach.
  • Serves as a mentor and positive influence on the student-athletes in the men’s basketball program
  • Coordinates administrative responsibilities as delegated by the head coach.
  • Travels on occasion representing the college at various functions and events.
  • Assists and is directly involved in the monitoring of classroom participation and attendance for all student-athletes with in the men’s basketball program.
  • Any other·duties as assigned by the head coach.
Education and Experience: A bachelor’s degree is preferred for each full time assistant coach; however, the university will take into consideration previous professional play i ng experience and other high level coaching experience in lieu of a degree if the employee is committed under university guidelines to continually work towards the awarding of the degree while being employed.
Requirements: Employee must possess a valid Florida driver’s license, current certification annually for NCAA recruiting and rules implementation and pass routine and random drug screeninging as mandated by the department of athletics.

Environmental/Physical Conditions: The employee must be physically able to demonstrate many of the ski ll s required for the student-athletes to succeed in the respective spot. The employee also must be able to work outdoors during in climate weather and also during extreme cold and hot weather situations.
