Major Duties
The Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach reports directly to the Head Men’s Basketball Coach and assists in developing a Division I competitive Men’s Basketball program. The incumbent evaluates and recruits qualified student-athletes, whose athletic skills allow the program to be highly competitive and whose academic abilities make them excellent candidates for a meaningful academic experience and graduate from CSUN.
• Supports the Head Coach by providing leadership and integrity to the program set forth by the Head Coach which includes, but is not limited to: creating, planning, organizing, motivating, communicating and controlling aspects relative to recruiting, practices, competitions, student-athletes, assistant coaches, and related booster clubs.
• Conducts themselves in a manner representative of the University, the Department, and the sport both on and off the field of competition.
• Knowledgeable about and comply with NCAA regulatory policy governing their sport; as well as NCAA and conference policies governing recruiting, eligibility, ethical standards, playing seasons, and extra benefits.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Please Note: Position will be filled at either the Head Coach, or Coach classification, dependent upon applicant qualifications.

Qualifications
Head Coach
• Four (4) or more years coaching, recruiting, and/or professional playing experience.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.

Coach
• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
• Three (3) years coaching, recruiting, and/or professional playing experience.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Head Coach
• Demonstrated progressively more responsibility as an assistant coach or and/or served as a college head coach.
• Proficient in developing and managing a sports program and administering the budget.

Coach
• Demonstrated leadership, organizational, administrative and recruiting skills.
