Description:

Cedarville University is seeking to hire an Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach. The primary purpose of this role is is to support the Head Coach’s involvement in coaching. Support would be in the areas of recruitment, camp organization, scouting, practice instruction and weight training. This is a full-time, exempt position that reports to the Head Men’s Basketball Coach.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Teaching up to eight hours for Exercise and Sport Science.
  • Maintaining a commitment to NCAA, Conference, and University rule compliance.
  • Strives to reflect the Athletic Department core values: Christ-centered, Excellence, Integrity, Community, and Humility.  Will offer ongoing support to develop a culture that emphasizes these values.
  • Keeping current with and follow NCAA, Conference, and University rules and regulations as they apply to recruiting, eligibility, and finances.
  • Attending annual continuing-education programs for NCAA, Conference, and University rules and regulations as they apply to recruiting, eligibility, and finances.
  • Reporting any NCAA, Conference, and University rule violations to the Compliance Coordinator.
  • Understanding that violations of NCAA, Conference, and University rules and regulations may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
  • Assisting in the administration and organization of Basketball camps.
  • Mentoring and spiritually motivating players
  • Scouting opponents
  • Assists in establishing practice plans, game plans and develops game clips for Varsity and Junior Varsity teams
  • Coordinating recruitment and recruiting student-athletes that fit the mission of CU.
  • Establishing and maintaining communication with alumni
  • Monitoring player strength and conditioning
  • Being active in professional development
  • Organizing inventory
  • Communicating with high school coaches.
  • Assisting in the coordination of MIS trips
  • Coordinating and monitoring the academic support of student-athletes.
  • Other duties assigned by the Head Coach
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • BA Degree required, Masters preferred.
  • Personal Faith in Jesus Christ.
  • Previous coaching experience preferred at college level
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with coaches, student-athletes, parents and others
  • Knowledge of NCAA DI or DII either as athlete of coach  preferred
  • Self motivated with initiative and work ethic
  • Ability to work with limited supervision
  • Have access to/use of a personal vehicle
  • Loyalty to school, team, and head coach
  • Shows: Enthusiasm, Dependability, Creativity, Motivation, Flexibility, Integrity, and Organization
