Job Summary

This position is responsible for assisting in coaching the colleges mens basketball program.

Minimum salary: $36,110 – Salary is commensurate with experience & education

Responsibilities

Assists with on-court coaching – 55
-Sets up for practices.
-Runs drills.
-Directs team warm-up and stretching.
-Instructs and motivates players.

Recruits student athletes – 15
-Attends high school games.
-Evaluates players.
-Communicates with coaches and players.

Advises and monitors the academic progress of student athletes – 15
-Ensures player progress toward degree completion.
-Provides advice and support to students.
-Coordinates community service opportunities for student-athletes.

Assists in the development of game and practice schedules – 5
-Schedules and works with gym supervisors to create practice schedules.
-Assists in coordinating game schedules.

Assists in coordinating team travel – 5
-Reserves transportation for away games.
-Prepares expense reports and travel authorizations.
-Coordinates meals and hotels.

Performs related duties – 5
-Coordinates team/opponent video exchanges; downloads game recordings to computer.
-Assists in all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the basketball program.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field required.

Other Required Qualifications
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid drivers license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

Required Experience
More than three years of related experience required (coaching, leading, or playing).

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

KNOWLEDGE
-Knowledge of the rules and regulations governing intercollegiate sports.
-Knowledge of college-level athletic program management principles.
-Knowledge of basketball rules and procedures.
-Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.

SKILLS
-Skill in the coaching and training of student athletes.
-Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions.
-Skill in oral and written communication.
