Description:
Drake University Athletics seeks a candidate to assist the head coach of the men’s basketball program. This includes assisting in the development and execution of effective practice and competition plans. Assist with scouting and game prep, including video and stat reviews.

Provide feedback, including explanations and demonstrations, to student-athletes related to athletic technique and skill development and to achieve proficiency. Provide leadership and a positive academic, athletic, and social environment to student-athletes within the men’s basketball program, including monitoring academic progress of student-athletes.

This position requires an understanding of and compliance with the rules of the NCAA, the Missouri Valley Conference, and Drake University.

Minimum Qualifications:

Baccalaureate Degree – knowledge of specialized principles or techniques normally obtained through a four-year college/university academic program or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program directly related to the type of work being performed.

Prior college coaching experience.

Job Duties:

55% – Assist in the development and execution of effective practice and competition plans, including pre-and post-season conditioning programs. Provide feedback, including explanations and demonstrations, to student-athletes related to athletic technique and skill development and to achieve proficiency. – (Essential)

15% – Assist with scouting and game preparation, including video and statistical reviews. – (Essential)

10% – Provide leadership and a positive academic, athletic, and social environment to student-athletes within the men’s basketball program, including monitoring academic progress of student-athletes. – (Essential)

10% – Assist with administrative duties, including but not limited to: NCAA and Drake University compliance processes, coordination of team travel, competition scheduling, business and finance paperwork, facilities reservations, fundraising, etc. – (Essential)

5% – Demonstrate appropriate communication as it relates to internal (coaching staff, student-athletes, athletics staff) and external (fans, friends, parents, prospects, campus community, etc.) constituents. – (Essential)

5% – Perform other duties as assigned. – (Essential)
