Description:

The Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach is responsible for assisting with the organization and implementation of regular practice sessions and competitions, fundraising events and community service projects. The assistant coach is also responsible for assisting with the recruitment of student-athletes into the Men’s Basketball program. Additionally, the assistant coach is responsible for assisting with the oversight of the maintenance of the basketball courts and upkeep of the equipment.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting in the organization and implementation of regular practice sessions, competitions, fundraising and community service projects.
  • Acting as supervisor/head coach representative in the absence of the head coach.
  • Developing and teaching strategies for motivating student-athletes to perform at maximum levels as both individuals and a team, while promoting the academic and athletic development of the student-athletes.
  • Responsible for assisting with the oversight of the maintenance of the basketball courts and upkeep of the equipment.
  • Assisting in all aspects of the recruitment process from inception to completion including: the development of recruitment plans, targeting potential student-athletes for recruitment purposes, and making recommendations.
  • Assisting with coordination and implementation of travel arrangements.
  • And other duties assigned by the head coach.
  • Responsible for complying with the policies and guidelines established by the NCAA, Sunshine State Conference (SSC), University and Athletics Department for conducting a varsity sport.

Education/Skills required:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 0-2 years of collegiate coaching experience

* Official transcripts of all collegiate work must be sent directly from the attended institution to the Human Resources Office prior to the first day of employment. All international degrees must have a course-by-course official evaluation and translation sent to the Human Resources Office directly from an evaluation company affiliated with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, Inc. (NACES).
