To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following:

· Knowledge of the fundamentals of basketball and the ability to teach basketball skills and philosophies;
· Knowledge of and the ability to understand and comply with all policies and regulations of the University, the MEAC Conference and the NCAA;
· Demonstrated ability to scout and recruit highly skilled student athletes into a program committed to a philosophy that emphasizes academic priorities for student athletes as well as the importance of good citizenship both on and off the court;
· Ability to relate and communicate with high school, Junior College, Amateur Athletic Union coaches, and with high school, college student-athletes, and parents;
· Ability to develop, and motivate quality student-athletes on and off the court and in the classroom;
· Demonstrated commitment to diversity;
· Ability to take directions, work with limited supervision, and assist the head coach
· Ability to organize and operate basketball camps, individuals and team;
· Ability to communicate and work effectively with a wide variety of constituents, including alumni, friends, parents, faculty, campus staff, administration and local community;
· Ability to work effectively in a team environment;
· Ability to work nights and weekends beyond 8 – 5 (no overtime pay); and
· Ability to use various basketball scouting software and Microsoft Word, Excel and email.
