Description:

The Iowa State University Athletics Department is accepting applications for an Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach to assist the Head Coach with all phases of the NCAA Division I program including planning practice sessions and competitive coaching situations; identifying and successfully recruiting academically qualified and athletically talented student-athletes; effectively teaching, mentoring and coaching to develop well-rounded student-athletes; development of scouting reports and pre-competition evaluations of opponents; and ensuring academic progress and graduation. The Assistant Coach will also perform administrative duties as assigned, with a commitment to adhering to University, Big 12 Conference and NCAA policies, procedures, and regulations. Will contribute to and enhance a competitive athletic experience. Will establish and maintain an environment conducive to the welfare and academic success of the student-athletes. Will establish and maintain effective interactions with the students, colleagues, university community, alumni, media and the public.

This position requires an excellent work ethic along with exceptional motivational, teaching/coaching and communication skills. Candidates are expected to be committed to multiculturalism and working with a diverse student body. Requires the ability to travel extensively including overnight stays for recruiting and competitions.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree. Experience coaching or competing in basketball at the collegiate or professional level.

Preferred Education and Experience

NCAA Division I men’s basketball coaching experience.
Proven ability to recruit and coach highly skilled student-athletes.
