The Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach assists the Head Coach with directing and supervising the operation of the Men’s Basketball program within the rules and regulations of Lamar University, Southland Conference, Texas State University System and the NCAA. The position requires a commitment to recruiting, compliance and academics leading to the graduation of student-athletes. The position requires active involvement in the community for fundraising purposes. Strict adherence to established NCAA, Southland Conference, Texas State University System and Lamar University rules and regulations is required.

Examples of work performed:
E1. Assists the Head Men’s Basketball Coach with a variety of administrative duties.

E2. Assists the Head Men’s Basketball Coach with on court coaching during practice and competition.

E3. Available to the news media on appropriate occasions determined by the Head Men’s Basketball Coach in conjunction with the Assistant Athletics Director for Media Relations.

E4. Assists in developing a successful recruiting program and will attempt to recruit the best students as well as athletes.

E5. Recognizes and promotes the best interest of the student-athletes both academically and athletically – encouraging each to graduate. Assist with study hall labs for student-athletes.

E6. Assists the Head Men’s Basketball Coach with running a program within budget guidelines.

E7. Actively participates in fundraising and development along with the Head Men’s Basketball Coach and the Athletics Director.

E8. Assists in the provision of public information which will be provided through the Media Relations Office in accordance with policies mutually agreed upon by the coaches, the Director of Athletics and Lamar University.

Qualifications:
* 1-3 years NCAA Division I coaching experience required
* Bachelor’s degree required
* Knowledge in computer technology required
* Knowledge of NCAA rules required
