Description:
This position will be responsible for critical functions within the men’s basketball program including on-court coaching duties, recruitment of potential student-athletes, instruction and skill development of student-athletes, and support for the overall development and advancement of the program.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Provide instruction, skill development and training to student-athletes to provide individual growth and development of skills and basketball knowledge.

2. Identify, evaluate and attract talented student-athletes. Ability to evaluate talent and recruit student-athletes that can be successful at Marquette. Conduct off-campus recruitment visits and host on-campus visits.

3. Serve as on-court assistant coach during practices and games. Use video for individual student-athlete analysis and development, scouting of opponents and game plan development.

4. Promote the academic success of the student-athletes.

5. Monitor sportsmanship and conduct of student/athletes on and off the court. Supervise staff and student-athletes.

6. Support the Head Coach in the overall development and advancement of the program. Assist with events, donor relations and coordination of camps.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Bachelor’s degree

Minimum of 4 years of related work experience, including demonstrated successful coaching experience, and 3 years of playing Division 1 basketball required.

Ability to evaluate talent and recruit student-athletes that can be successful at Marquette.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Previous experience playing professional level basketball preferred.
