Assist the Head Men’s Basketball coach organize and administer all aspects of our NCAA Division I men’s basketball program. Essential duties will include: day to day coaching of student athletes, individual skill instruction, help recruit academically sound and competitive student athletes, assist with team travel plans, scheduling to enhance championship opportunities, oversee and promote compliance of NCAA rules among staff, student athletes and representatives of athletic interest, serve as a positive role model for the student athletes and budgeting of assigned funds. Must work to enhance image of the university and promote positive community relations. Serve as an ambassador of the university and a valued member of the community and may be asked to make public appearances or speak at civic events within the community. Attend national and Sun Belt Conference coaches meetings and or conventions to stay abreast of their sports and changes that occur. The assistant coach will be expected to know and follow NCAA rules and regulations and successfully pass the recruiting test each year to recruit for the university. Expected to immediately report any known violation of NCAA rules to the Director of Compliance. NCAA Compliance documentation will be completed accurately and turned in to the compliance office in a timely fashion. Failure to do so could result in a written reprimand.

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree required. Masters degree in Health or Human Performance or related field preferred.

Required Related Experience

Two years of high school, college, club or professional coaching and/ or playing experience at the college level.

Desirable Related Experience

Master’s degree in Health & Human Performance or related field preferred. Proven ability to recruit academically and athletically qualified student athletes. Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
