Position Overview
Reporting to the Head Men’s Basketball Coach, the successful candidates will be responsible for assisting the Head Coach with the organization, supervision, and administration of an NAIA basketball program. The candidate will also demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to education, NAIA athletics and an appreciation for and commitment to all NAIA, Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and institutional rules and regulations. The candidates should also possess good communication skills, strong leadership and mentoring abilities, and the ability to create a culture that is both disciplined and caring.

Specific Coaching Responsibilities

– Assists in the organization and direction of all practice activity.
– Aid in the strategic planning for individual player development.
– Counsel and advise student-athletes with personal or academic situations.
– Discuss with the head coach both team and individual strengths and weaknesses and design strategies for improvement.
– Assist with maintaining a positive and competitive team environment.
– Develop recruiting strategies to pursue the top academic and athletic fit for Mount Marty University.

 

Recruiting Responsibilities

– Evaluate athletic, academic, and personal integrity and character of prospective student- athletes and their overall fit with Mount Marty University and the men’s basketball program.
– Build strong effective working relationships with regional summer and high school coaches.

– Assist and organize recruiting visits.

– Manage and create an effective recruiting database.

 

Administrative Responsibilities

– Responsible for all facets of team travel and ensuring it is administered in in conjunction with business office procedures.
– Coordinate all video-exchange and timely online uploads/downloads during the season.

– Organize and arrange camps, skill development workouts, and coaching clinics.

– Create and manage effective ways to communicate with alumni and recruits such as newsletters, social media, mailings, etc.

 

Requirements

– Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.
– Must have a valid driver’s license.
– The employee will have knowledge of and a commitment to compliance with NAIA rules and regulations.

– Possesses a philosophy of coaching and education that fits the mission of Mount Marty University.

– Ability to interact and represent Mount Marty University well with a diverse constituency of students, faculty, alumni, and media.
