Description:

This is a part time, stipend position, with graduate school tuition waivers. As the Assistant Coach for the men’s basketball program, this position accepts the responsibility of assisting/supporting the Head Coach of Men’s Basketball in the coaching, leadership, vision and supervision of the men’s basketball program.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EDUCATION REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred with experience in collegiate athletics and coaching
  • Genuine understanding and commitment to NCAA Division III intercollegiate athletics philosophy
  • Solid knowledge and technical skills for the sport of basketball
  • Must have strong leadership and interpersonal skills plus an ability to work with all constituencies of the campus
  • The ability to identify and attract outstanding student-athletes to Nichols College
  • CPR/ AED and First Aid certification
  • Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail and able to handle a multi-task work environment
  • Computer proficiency
  • Valid driver’s license

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Assistant Coach

  • Assist in recruiting strategy and execution
  • Assist in making arrangements to prepare players for season
  • Assist in daily planning and implementing of practice
  • Assist in daily evaluation of practice, players, tactical information, etc.
  • Assist in coordination of all coaching aspects, motivation of team, practice and game preparation etc.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach

 

Physical Job Components:

Light to moderate lifting

Able to communicate orally, in writing and use office and telecommunication equipment

Ability to work business and extended hours including evenings and weekends

Traveling is expected/ valid driver’s license
