Description:	Job Description Assist the head coach in planning and organizing all phases of a Division I basketball program. Recruitment and evaluation of prospective student-athletes and related regional and national travel. Scouting of assigned opponents. Assist head coach in preparation and conduct of practices and games. Assist head coach in overseeing academic progress. Liaison to designated campus support departments and athletic departments (i.e., residence life, academics). Coordinate outreach efforts with community, alumni, and supporters. Assist the head coach in any other areas deemed necessary. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required. 1-3 years basketball coaching experience at the junior college, university, and/or professional level. Preferred Qualifications Working knowledge of Division I NCAA rules and regulations. Master’s degree. Experience working with social media. Experience monitoring student-athlete academic attendance and progress. Experience coaching Division I men’s basketball. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Ability to perform a variety of tasks (not limited to coaching) and to work well within a management team committed to excellence. Knowledgeable and proficient in both computer and multimedia technology in order to edit and compile scouting reports. Effective communication, both verbally and in writing. Experience working with multicultural groups and issues and ability to serve well in an increasingly diverse community. Skill in developing and motivating student-athletes for athletic and academic success. All coaches have a duty to cooperate with and furnish the NCAA, Big Sky Conference and NAU with truthful and complete information concerning involvement in or knowledge of rules violations as mandated by NCAA Bylaw 10.1. Satisfactory rules knowledge and rules compliance are conditions of employment. This position, in particular, will fully participate and cooperate in compliance-related activities, procedures and evaluation. Coaches are held to strict NCAA guidelines regarding all of the following, including but not limited to: Athletic Equipment and Apparel Coaching Staff Limits and Contracts Complimentary Admissions Employment of Student-Athletes Financial Aid Governance Institutional Camps and Clinics Institutional Certification of Compliance Playing and Practice Seasons Recruiting Representatives of the University’s Athletic Interests Rules Education Student-Athlete Eligibility Student-Athlete Vehicles Team Travel Background Information
