Description:

Principal duties include serving as the junior varsity coach to include practice and skill development sessions and will also serve as lead assistant in the varsity. Will assist the head coach in scouting, talent assessment and recruiting in order to reach optimal roster numbers. Will help monitor and support the academic success and retention of student-athletes. Will provide training, direction, and encouragement in preparation of student-athletes in team building, team strategy, and sportsmanship. Will analyze player performance and instruct student athletes in game strategies and techniques to prepare them for athletic competition. Individual will be expected to be a positive role model for student-athletes and have a commitment to the College’s mission and values. Other duties may be assigned by the head coach (i.e. assisting in arranging community service activities for team, assisting with fundraising, planning of camps, and participating in Champions of Character initiatives). This position is exempt with regard to FLSA overtime provisions. This position is covered by the NSCPA negotiated agreement.

 

Qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree in physical education, recreation, health, or related field plus coaching experience required, master’s degree preferred.  Must have knowledge of NAIA rules and regulations.   Should have the ability to work in an environment where the education, welfare, and graduation of student-athletes receive primary emphasis. Strong communication, administrative and organizational skills are strongly preferred. Should be able to work effectively with a diverse student population, many of whom are first generation college students. Prior playing experience is preferred. Valid driver’s license is required.
