Description:
Potomac State College (WVU Keyser), part of the West Virginia University system of campuses, located in Keyser, WV is seeking applications for an Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach. This position is responsible for assisting the head coach and athletics director in all daily operations of the PSC basketball team, as well as working with the Athletics Department as needed.

In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:

  • Run practices according to the athletics department mission, providing a year-round practice program that adheres to the rules set forth by NJCAA.
  • Have a system in place for retention of student athletes on the two teams coached.
  • Ensure players are making progress toward graduation.
  • Order, distribute, and collect equipment after season.
  • Organize fundraisers to supplement the annual budget for the team.
  • Conduct camps to promote the program, engage in community relations and create extra income for the team.
Length of Assignment: 10 months

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree; or an equivalent combination of education and/or directly related experience.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience either playing or coaching at the college level
  • Ability to communicate well, both orally and in writing.
  • Thorough knowledge of the following computer programs: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel.
  • Thorough knowledge of office equipment.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to complete tasks that have set deadlines.
Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license
  • First aid and CPR certification
