Description:

The Assistant Coach of Men’s Basketball is responsible for recruiting, player development, on-court coaching, on-court and in-game responsibilities, and scouting. The individual will also act as the community service coordinator and liaison to the Strength and Conditioning Coach.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Act and serve as an assistant coach in all areas of the program.
  • Work closely with the head coach and the entire staff to develop a comprehensive recruiting strategy based on areas of need on a yearly basis.
  • Assist with the planning of practice on a daily basis during the season, as well as the planning of individual workouts during the offseason.
  • Participate and give feedback in post-practice meetings both during the season and during off-season workouts.
  • Assist in monitoring the academic progress of the Sacred Heart University Men’s Basketball Team.
  • Work closely with Compliance on all program aspects, especially recruitment of potential student-athletes.
  • Stay abreast of all NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Serve as community service coordinator by planning community service projects throughout the year.
  • Assist in game preparation and developing scouting reports for opponents.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, & Other Attributes

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Two to three years of coaching experience as a graduate assistant, video coordinator, director of basketball operations, or assistant coach at the intercollegiate level.
  • Strong organizational, administrative, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Impeccable integrity with a working knowledge of the NCAA rules and regulations.
