Description:

Reporting to the Head Basketball Coach, this position assists with planning and implementing a successful and well-rounded intercollegiate Basketball program to include the holistic development of the individual student-athletes.

Essential Job Functions:

Assume the primary lead with respect to the coordination of the recruitment of prospective high school and community college student-athletes. Recruit off-campus (evaluations and home visits). Coordinate campus visits for potential student-athletes. Insure program compliance and reporting relative to recruitment activities. Assist head coach in practice planning and execution and player instruction. Assist head coach in game planning and provide scouting reports as assigned. Provide secondary assistance to academic support team in ensuring academic and campus life success of basketball student-athletes.

Marginal Job Functions:

Coordinate youth skills camps. Assist in fundraising for travel and program enhancement. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and two years recruiting experience at the four-year level, preferably NCAA Division I or Division II OR an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Successful candidate must have knowledge of, and commitment to, NCAA rules and guidelines, and will be required to pass the NCAA Coaches Certification Exam, annually.Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the NCAA, any athletics conference Seattle University may join, and other established bodies that govern or oversee intercollegiate athletics. In the event Employee becomes aware, or has reasonable cause to believe, that violations of these organizations’ constitutions, bylaws, rules or regulations may have taken place, Employee shall promptly report the same to the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Rules Education at the University. Employee shall cooperate fully and completely with any investigation of any alleged violation, whether such investigation is conducted by the University, NCAA or any other duly authorized agency or individual. All candidates must show a demonstrated commitment to diversity and the university’s mission,
vision, and values. This position requires a criminal history background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree with three to five years experience in recruiting and scheduling at the NCAA
Division I level. Possess demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with internal and
external constituencies for the purpose of advancing the program.
