The South Dakota State University (SDSU) Jackrabbit Athletics team is growing! We are seeking an additional position as Assistant Coach for Men’s Basketball. As a university committed to both academic excellence and athletic achievement, we are looking for an individual passionate about coaching, mentoring, and shaping the next generation of talented athletes. South Dakota State is an NCAA Division I institution located in Brookings, South Dakota. SDSU competes in The Summit League for all sports except football (Missouri Valley Football Conference), wrestling (Big XII Conference), and women’s equestrian (National Collegiate Equestrian Association). This is a 12-month, full-time, benefits-eligible position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The responsibility of this position involves assisting in all aspects of maintaining a successful NCAA Division I men’s basketball program by assisting with player development and assist the Athletic Department in achieving the goals for student-athlete development.

SALARY RANGE:

The salary is contingent upon education and experience. We offer a generous retirement plan that includes 6% matching, 10 hours of annual leave each month, 9.34 hours of sick leave each month, and eleven paid holidays. Relocation benefits are available per university’s guidelines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree by application date;
  • At least one year of extensive knowledge and understanding the sport of basketball and familiar with all aspects of men’s basketball;
  • Self-directed and motivated;
  • Effective communication (oral, written, and interpersonal) skills;
  • Availability to work nights and weekends; and
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • General knowledge of NCAA manual and governance structure; and
  • Knowledge of recruiting practices, summer camps experience, collegiate basketball related experience, and Division I experience.
