Description:
Under general supervision, will provide instruction to students at SGTC in Sports and Fitness/Recreation courses.  Demonstrates the use of appropriate teaching techniques.  Demonstrates the use of appropriate testing and grading procedures, including proper maintenance of grade books and other appropriate record-keeping required.  Demonstrates the effective use of oral and written communication skills. Demonstrates knowledge of current procedures in the field.  The position involves classroom instruction.  Follows approved course syllabus.  Completes all documentation related to assigned courses in a timely manner and maintains an accurate inventory of all assigned property.  Provides direction for students concerning course material.  Assistant coach duties to include coaching, recruiting, scheduling, marketing, clerical, classroom instruction, budgeting, supervision of team and staff, travel, training, etc. Required to adhere to national, state, and local sports guidelines.  SGTC is a member of the NJCAA and GCAA. All other duties assigned.
 
Master’s Degree in Sports Management/Fitness/Physical Education or a related field from a regionally accredited college or university is required, with 18 graduate semester hours in Sports and Fitness-related courses.
 
Dedicated and student-oriented professional with over 3 years of coaching or collegiate playing experience and a strong background in sports and athletic instruction. Highly skilled in computer applications, communication, and team collaboration. Known for excellent organizational skills, a customer-friendly attitude, and the ability to manage multiple tasks with attention to detail. Committed to promoting safety in sports activities and effectively communicating instructional material to diverse student populations. Flexible and dependable, with a valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as needed.
 
Prior teaching Experience. Online teaching experience is a plus.   3 years out of the last 7 years of coaching experience at the collegiate level. Post-secondary teaching experience.
 
Work is typically performed in a classroom and gym with the employee intermittently sitting, standing, walking, squatting, running, bending, pushing, and pulling for three (3) – four (4) continuous hours at a time. The employee frequently lifts lightweight objects up to 50 lbs. The work is performed in campus buildings and outdoors, where the employee is occasionally exposed to cold or inclement weather. The ability to speak clearly is required. The ability to hear and understand a normal conversational level is required.
 
Full-time position. Salary commensurate with education and experience.
