Essential Functions Assist the head coach with activities including practice, matches, recruitment, clinics, and events.
Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Recruitment of basketball scholarship student-athletes as follows:
  2. Evaluate talent throughout the year, and coordinate communication plan with prospects.
  3.  Reply to recruiting correspondence.
  4.  Correspond with high school coaches in and out of state.
  5.  Assist in coordination of communications regarding home visits and official visits.
  6. Assist in coordinating and implementing prospect recruiting visits.
  7.  Work closely with administration, as assigned by Head Coach:
    Summer Camps
    Assist in instructional duties.
    Scout Basketball Opponents
    Scout those opponents assigned by Head Coach.
    Analyze scouting report with Head Coach and staff.

Film exchange

  1.  Assist staff in practice preparation based on scouting report.
  2.  Coaching
  3.  Practice preparation and providing instruction and motivation during practice.
  4.  Helping in preparation of off season workouts.
  5.  Administering individual and group workouts in pre and post season.
  6. Represent the Department of Athletics at numerous banquets, conventions, and with the external community.
  7. Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Position requires a bachelor’s degree or an advanced degree and a successful background in coaching collegiate basketball. Previous experience in the recruitment of college athletes preferred.  Demonstrated commitment to NAIA rules compliance and student-athlete academic success; leadership skills; ability to manage team dynamics; effective interpersonal and public relations skills; and ability to relate effectively with student-athletes, faculty, staff, administration, alumni and external community. Values compatible with and supportive of Talladega College’s mission as a culturally diverse institution desirable.
