Tufts University is seeking an Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach who will serve in a volunteer capacity for the 2021-22 season.

Located five miles from downtown Boston, Tufts University is a Division III member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the highly-competitive New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC). Tufts students participate in 30 varsity sports, 20 club sports and a number of intramural sports. Tufts Athletics has won eleven NCAA team championships since 2010 and has finished in the top 10 of the Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup in each of the last eight years, including a program-best 3rd place finish in 2016-17. Tufts Athletics oversees the Physical Education Department and manages all athletics facilities, including the Steve Tisch Sports & Fitness Center that opened in 2012. The Department of Athletics provides student-athletes a dynamic, transformational experience on and off the field. They experience the joy of personal growth inherent in high level competition, while cultivating lifelong connections with teammates, the Tufts community and the world around us.

 

As a member of the coaching staff responsibilities include working closely with the Head Coach to develop and coach an NCAA Division III athletic team and assist with all phases of directing and managing a successful program.  Actively ensure compliance with all NCAA and Tufts University rules and regulations; participate in establishing goals and objectives for each season; recruiting and assessing prospective student athletes for the program. Reflect Tufts University’s academic mission and commitment to building a diverse and inclusive community. Design and provide instruction on individual and team skills and physical health and safety to student athletes.

Duties may include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Assist coaching staff in practice preparation and execution.

2. Participate in game preparation by analyzing opponent game film and developing scouting reports.

3. Assist with recruiting efforts both on campus and at offsite events.

4. Attend all home and away contests.
