Description:
  • Description:  The Assistant Men’s Basketball coach, assists with all phases of coaching an intercollegiate team, including recruiting, scouting, game management, promotions, and supporting our student athletes on and off the floor.  A strong work ethic and passion for  college athletics is required.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Recruit student-athletes according to University of Rio Grande and NAIA practices.
  • Assists in preparing events and practices.
  • Ability to use and operate synergy for scouting and film breakdown.
  • Carries out scouting assignments as outlined by the Head Coach
  • Cooperates with other staff to ensure that the student-athlete is provided with services to succeed academically and personally.
  • Maintains good relationship with alumnus, parents, officials, volunteers, and fans.
  • Oversee the strength and conditioning programs of our student athletes in and out of season within the head coaches guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as requested by the Head Coach.
  • Weekend work, irregular hours, travel, and physical demands are required for this position.

Other Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Update Coaches Recruiting in and out of season.
  • Help process credit card statements in a timely manner.
  • Maintain practice and game facility as applicable.
  • Transporting student athletes or recruits to airport for arrival and departure
  • Secure lodging, and plan meals for all team travel dates.
  • Provide travel information for faculty.
  • Ability to operate social media in accordance to school policy.
  • Ability to create edits / photoshop for social media accounts is preferred.

Supervision: 

  • Responsible for the direct supervision of student-athletes, and student staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred
  • Knowledge of NAIA rules and regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a small college setting and the ability to balance all student-athlete needs.
  • Valid drivers license is preferred
  • Proven coaching experience in the assigned sport.
  • Ability to recruit and retain student-athletes.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Drive (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with Synergy is preferred
  • High school and college playing experience preferred
