Job Description Summary

The assistant coach provides instructional, administrative, and recruiting support services under the direction of the head coach and athletic director.

Minimum Qualifications

Demonstrated basketball coaching knowledge.

Preferred Qualifications

Prefer an Associate’s and/or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Excellent interpersonal, teaching and communication skills.

Have knowledge of NCAA Division III rules

Physical Demands

• May be required to travel.
• May be required to work irregular hours.
• May be required to stoop, bend, run, jump, and use the hands, arms, and legs during practice/training sessions.
• May be required to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.

Essential Duties

Primary duty is to assist the head coach in the implementation of sport training through teaching and instructing the student-athletes in the rules and fundamentals of basketball.

Under the direction of the head coach, will assist in providing sport skill instruction, assist in the conduct of practice sessions, perform game related duties, and motivate players to give their best efforts.

Contribute to recruiting efforts through on-campus visits and off-campus evaluation.

Support team fundraising initiatives.

Mentor student athletes.

Demonstrate sincere interest in the personal, academic and athletic success of the student-athlete.

Represent the University in a positive manner at all times.

Abide by all SLIAC and NCAA rules and regulations.
