Reporting to the Head Coach of Men’s Basketball, the Athletics Operations Associate for Player Development will support the Men’s Basketball program by performing the following duties.

  • Is responsible for providing strategic approaches for game days and practices before, during, and after competition for all home and away games. Assesses video and film exchange and regularly meets with the coaching staff to prepare the video and scouting material as well as approaches that will be presented to the student-athletes for practice and game preparation.
  • Manages student-athletes’ extracurricular activities, applying an understanding of the many requirements student-athletes must constantly meet. Evaluates new opportunities to meet requirements, advises Head Coach, and coordinates all community service obligations.
  • Oversees student managers’ day-to-day operations, including all games and practices.
  • Coordinates with sports marketing staff to market and promote the Men’s Basketball Program. Assist with all employing social media strategies.
  • Assists with all camps, clinics, and community service initiatives.

The position is based at GW’s Foggy Bottom Campus in Washington, DC but will require significant domestic travel for games and events. The incumbent may perform other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Men’s division 1 playing experience
  • Working knowledge of video/editing software
  • Working knowledge of scouting software
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as a part of a team.
  • Understanding of the academic monitoring required to ensure student-athlete’s success.
  • Strategic understanding of the game of basketball in order to aid with practice and game preparation.
