Description:

The University of Maryland Athletics Sports Performance Unit is currently accepting applications for a voluntary Basketball Performance Intern. This will be an unpaid entry-level position with no medical benefits. The position will report to the Director of Basketball Performance and assist with all aspects of the Sports Performance Program with an emphasis on athlete monitoring and tracking technologies, implementing strength and conditioning programs, facility setup, and other duties as assigned. Even though no monetary compensation is provided along with this position, the position offers the opportunity to work with the latest sports science equipment and technologies. The successful candidate will gain valuable experience with specific Olympic sport teams and elite amateur student-athletes.

Required Qualifications

• CSCS or CSCCa-SCCC certification

• First Aid/CPR/AED certification Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in exercise science or a relevant field

• USAW Certification • Experience working with athletic performance programs in a collegiate and/or professional setting

• Ability to work in a team-based environment

• Experience training Division I student-athletes

• Background in biomechanics preferred

• Experience working with excel, statistics, athlete management software and sport technology systems (Omegawave, HRV, GPS). • Energetic, motivated and focused on team goals essential. Strong communication skills
