POSITION OVERVIEW 

The Nueva School is seeking knowledgeable and passionate basketball coaches for the upcoming high school season. The basketball season runs from the end of October through early March. The assistant coach will assist the head coach in all aspects of the program. These duties include but are not limited to: academic support of student athletes, coaching on the floor (practice and skill development sessions), team transportation, bench responsibilities during games and other duties as needed to continue the success of the program.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, with 3-5 years of coaching experience at an independent school or college level. A candidate will understand the communication needs to facilitate a competitive program in a fast-paced environment, and is capable of solving problems in collaboration with others.

Stipend is competitive and commensurate with experience and availability. Scheduled days and hours include, Monday-Friday, 3:30pm – 5:30pm, with the potential of other two-hour blocks of time in the afternoon/evening.

REQUIREMENTS

-Must have excellent leadership and communication skills.

-Understand the fundamentals of the game.

-Support students in academic endeavors along with athletic endeavors.

-Have the ability to motivate student athletes to reach their potential.

-NFHS coaching courses completed (or willingness to complete them within first year).

-Negative TB test and LiveScan fingerprinting.

-CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to become certified).

 

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

-Assist in the planning and implementation of the team’s practice plans

-Assist in the creation and implementation of individual player development plans

-Attend all team functions and gatherings
