Description: | The Director of Men’s Basketball Operations reports directly to the head coach and has responsibility for the fundamental functional needs of the USF Men’s Basketball program, while adhering to all NCAA, Conference, and institutional rules and regulations. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting with equipment needs, apparel distribution, arrangements of team travel, game scheduling, game day activities, and coordinate logistics related to official and unofficial visits of potential student athletes. Position will coordinate the distribution of complimentary admission, serve as a liaison for Academics and Compliance and is responsible for obtaining prior authorization for travel, timely submission of expense reports, travel expense settlements, cash advances, P-card reconciliation of statements and receipts and other administrative functions needed to maintain effective operations of an intercollegiate sports program. RESPONSIBILITIES: Recruiting – Coordinate official and unofficial visits of recruits including, but not limited to hotel/travel accommodations and meals for prospective student athletes (PSA); setup meetings with coaches, current student athletes and academic services; tour USF Athletics District and USF campus, etc. Provide coaches with high school profile sheets and recruiting materials for the road (i.e. return envelopes, media guides, questionnaires, camp brochures). Establish data bank of PSAs, distribute prospect lists to coaches, and work with coaches on recruiting needs. Academic Liaison – Serve as the liaison for admission procedures and assist in filing with the NCAA Eligibility Center for all prospective student-athletes. Responsible for compiling and processing academic information on prospects including, but not limited to pre- applications for admission, transcripts, test scores, progress reports, high school profile, etc. Assist with the monitoring of academic progress of student-athletes. Establish and maintain an environment conducive to the welfare and academic success of the student- athlete. Compliance Liaison – Distribute compliance bulletins to coaches, inform compliance of coaches’ travel schedule, maintain and submit phone logs to compliance, proactively identify and resolve any eligibility issues, stay up-to-date on all new legislation and inform coaches. Travel – Coordinate team travel for home and away games; help set up rooms and meals; logistics of team travel itineraries, registration lists, etc. Organize coaches travel schedule and provide coaches with travel itinerary. Daily Operations – Work with coaching staff with the flow of daily correspondence and day-to-day operations of running a sport program. Work with head coach to develop short and long range planning. Make recommendations to supervisor to improve/change current processes. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: MINIMUM: This position requires a Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution and two years of relevant experience in coaching, athletics operations or athletics management; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. PREFERRED: Experience with NCAA Div I sports operations |
