Description:

Working under the general direction of the Head Coach, the Academic Player Development Coordinator serves as key team member of the management team in organizing, planning, managing, and supervising student athlete academic success as well as managing the business operations and services for University of Idaho men’s basketball program. This position functions as the leader and decision maker in the coordination of player academic development off the court and in the classroom; decides and implements the men’s basketball schedule for upcoming seasons, summer camps, maintains head coach’s calendar, and recruiting organization, and is responsible for coordination of the relationships with outside interests to support programs, activities, and business operations. This position is recognized by clients and colleagues as having the authority to make decisions and has accountability when responding to inquiries, resolving complex issues or committing departmental resources. This position is responsible for deciding, developing, monitoring, and managing the program/activity budgets, and contracts; and logistics associated with men’s basketball travel and events; supervising and evaluating performance of staff and ensuring completion of all project activities.

The position reports directly to the Head Men’s Basketball Coach and supports all the men’s basketball coaches in the operations of the men’s basketball department and acts as liaison to the Athletics Department. This position must be knowledgeable of, and in compliance with, all NCAA , conference and university rules and regulations and must display professional integrity.

Minimum Qualifications:

At least 2 years’ experience in the operations of basketball programs at the Division 1 level

At least one year of supervisory experience

Experience: managing event logistics and business operations; developing, recommending, and evaluating written materials such as policies and procedures; devising and implementing solutions to problems; gathering, assembling, correlating and analyzing facts; mentoring student athletes

Demonstrated computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Knowledge of: higher education academic rules, regulations, procedures, curriculum, and graduation requirements

Ability to: multitask effectively in a high volume high stress office

Possess: Strong writing and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree

Experience supervising and evaluating staff

Experience directing athletic academic support

Demonstrated ability to organize and document key aspects of the recruiting process

Experience negotiating contracts and/or acting as liaison with outside vendors

Demonstrated knowledge of and compliance with NCAA and conference rules and regulations
