Description:
The Athletic Department at Bethune Cookman University invites applications for Director of Operations for Men’s Basketball. This is a 12-month staff position.
Duties/Responsibilities:
-Travel: Handle and oversee all travel and transportation for the team -Scheduling Contests: Securing contest agreements; contacting and communicating on all needed levels to schedule games in upcoming seasons -Hiring: Hire, train, and supervise Work Study and Student employees. -On Court Work: Be prepared to do on-court work with players when other members of staff are unable to, or out of town recruiting -Academics: Academic liaison between team and campus. Oversee class checks and study hall, at home and on the road. -Compliance Reporting: Submit all information to compliance regarding CARA and other program reporting -Basketball Knowledge: Be prepared to assist with scouting opponents and prepare coaching staff to present and communicate information to the players -Special Projects: Be available to assist head coach and coaching staff with special projects as they come up. -Film Work: Be prepared to help managers to have all practices filmed -Recruiting: Communicate “general correspondence” via mail and electronic mail with recruits within NCAA guidelines and rules. -Other Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance at and participation in required training for the role.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Organizational Skills: Detail oriented and strong ability to follow up
Network: Strong network of existing contacts in some or all of the following: NCAA/JUCO/NBA
Recruiting: Experience and history of success in recruiting at college level along with a deep desire to learn more.
Strong Academic Background: Please attach any academic achievements or highlights from your schooling.
Availability: Flexibility a must, able to work nights, weekends, and holidays
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree required with a minimum of 3-5 years of playing or coaching experience in the game; The successful candidate must possess proven knowledge of and a commitment to adherence to NCAA rules, and must have experience in scheduling, academic advising. recruiting, and budget accountability and personnel management.
