Description:

James Madison University, a Division I member of the NCAA and Colonial Athletic Association, is seeking a Director of Men’s Basketball Operations to work within a highly competitive program. This is a full-time position with a comprehensive benefits package.

Duties to include:

  • Coordinate team travel and arrangements
  • Prepare practice plans and game day events
  • Prepare and edit tapes from practice and games
  • Prepare itineraries for team and transportation
  • Coordinate reservations for gym and practice times
  • Schedule weekly player meetings
  • Complete weekly compliance reports
  • Supervise team managers
  • Perform video exchange and software development
  • Prepare equipment future orders for team
  • Assist with on campus recruiting duties
  • Schedule and facilitate community service events
  • Ensure compliance with NCAA, CAA, state of Virginia and JMU regulations

A bachelor’s degree is required. Candidates are required to have previous collegiate coaching/playing or operations experience with preference on the Division I level. Candidates should demonstrate a record of successful interaction with students in the areas of administration, academic success and rules compliance; evidence of ability to interact positively with student-athletes, parents, colleagues and the public; possess a demonstrated commitment to high academic standards for student-athletes and their ability to succeed both academically and athletically is essential; demonstration of effective oral and written communication skills; knowledge of and commitment to compliance with NCAA rules and regulations and evidence of strong organizational skills is required.

Candidates with previous experience with video coordination, office management, promotional activities and recruiting correspondence; experience with organizing team travel arrangements; software experience in Fast Draw, Fast Scout, Sports Code, ARMS, Teamworks, Hudl Sportscode, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive and Synergy and ability to independently manage multiple tasks to bring projects from beginning to completion on time and within budget are preferred.
