Marquee Hoops is the grassroots leader in development & exposure in the youth basketball space. We operate 35+ events a year coast-to-coast and provide the most competitive, organized, and professional events in the United States.
Job Summary
Our Director of Operations will be responsible for and expected to handle the administrative functions and operations of Marquee Hoops which includes the execution and management of all camps, circuits, and tournaments throughout our calendar year.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Execution
- Directing in-event operations, including the on-court execution of all events b. Assisting of collection of payments for all team and individual events in a timely fashion
- Assisting for all team and player communication for events
- Assisting the scheduling of each individual event
- Assist on all email marketing
- Managing any/all interns related to the sales or administrative side of the business
- Network
- Travel to other grassroots events for networking
- Growing personal brand and social media presence
- Scouting reports
- Direct the administrative functions and operations of Marquee Hoops which includes assisting in the execution and management of all events
- Direct & hire ops event staff with manager of ops: trainers, security, scorekeepers, court monitors, registration, door, & merch
- Source, hire, & manage operations interns
- Ensure that all flights and transportation for all Marquee Hoops events are booked early and within budgets (including: flights, buses, trains, rental vans, ubers…)
- Ensure all housing for staff within budgets at least 3 weeks in advance of event start date
- Direct on court operations during events including referees, timers and scorers, crowd control, and game operations
- On-site liaison for our security staff in-event
- Manage the front door operations at events including setting up the cash box, managing bands sold, tracking money earned, etc.
- Ensure that all operational supplies such as bands, chloroplasts, tape, thermometers, power strips etc. are ordered and shipped correctly
- Managing setup and breakdown procedures and operations
- Directing event packing lists + tear down lists
- Responsible for coordinating and training staff for specific events
- Coordinate with merch manage and logistics manager on tracking, shipping, arrivals, and sending back of merch and equipment
- Communication
- Provide attentive customer service via telephone and email to Marquee Hoops customers
- Prompt responses on slack
- Everyday use of Monday for hot lists and all tasks and projects
- Constant quest for Improvement
- Responsible for researching functional tools for staff to improve work productivity outside of events
- Participate in research for new operations ideas and ways to improve the management and efficiency of our events
- Participate in at least one professional development class per year that is geared toward the developing new operations strategies and trends
- Participate in research for new logistical ideas and ways to approve the management and efficiency of our events
