Under general supervision of the Head and Assistant Men’s Basketball Coaches, the Director of Operations, Men’s Basketball operate the men’s Basketball program with an atmosphere of compliance, integrity and within the scope and intent of NCAA, Conference and University regulations.  The incumbent ensures that compliance-related activities and associated paperwork for the men’s Basketball is submitted in a complete and timely manner; prepares correspondence, email, calendars and mail; creates practice plans, organizes and plans all team travel (buses, airfare, meals and lodging); orders all apparel and equipment for staff and team; coordinate and monitors student-athletes during academic study hall, on-campus and while on the road; conducts class checks; monitor academic progress of student-athletes and communicate with head and assistant coaches; works with the Academic Support for Student Athletes staff as well as Matador Achievement Center; monitors holds and the registration process; arranges practice and shoot around times for visiting teams; arranges all pre and post-game meals; coordinates game film exchanges with other institutions; coordinates all game and practice taping, editing, etc. Coordinates all aspects of the “6th man club” (a booster group for the Men’s Basketball Program); from conception, planning, and implementation; coordinates mailings and scheduling of activities including marketing, social media as it realties to the development and communication with the men’s basketball fan base. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university in a job-related field. Additional experience in job-related field may be substituted for required education, on a year for year basis. Equivalent to two years of full-time, technical, analytical, or administrative experience.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Working knowledge of general practices, program, and/or administrative specialty. Working knowledge of Sports Tec, JumpForward and Windows for PC and MAC computers. Ability and specialized skills to: interpret, and apply a wide variety of policies and procedures; perform basic research and statistical analysis; analyze data and make accurate projections using business mathematics and basic statistics; compile, write and present reports related to program or administrative specialty; communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
