Description: | The University of Louisiana at Lafayette Athletics Department is seeking a qualified Director of Scouting/Academics (Men’s Basketball). This position reports directly to the Head Men’s Basketball Coach. This position assists the Head Men’s Basketball Coach and Men’s Basketball Staff with overseeing the daily operation of the scouting such as watching film, monitoring compliance changes, facilitating player/family relations, and planning student-athlete activities.
– Coordinate the scouting with the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Men’s basketball program by helping to determine what players to pursue and assisting with the planning and preparation of recruiting trips.
– Assist coaches with advanced opponent scouting by watching 20+ hours of game film weekly to present to the coaches for game preparations. – Develop and update the offensive playbook to ensure the men’s basketball program has a competitive advantage for the greatest change of success. – Serve as the compliance liaison for the men’s basketball program by monitoring rule changes within the University, the NCAA, and the Sun Belt and working collaboratively with the coaching staff to keep them updated to relay the information to the student-athletes. – Engage red shirts/injured players by creating a distinct action plan for them while the other athletes are participating in practice and game day activities to keep them motivated. – Supervise group shooting by scheduling court time around student-athlete’s classes, weight sessions, and team practice. – Facilitate player/parent relations by communicating with parents about any concerns they may have about their student-athlete and by being available to visit with parents when they are in the Lafayette area visiting to improve the student-athlete experience and success in the program. – Support the educational mission of the University and the professional obligation to enhance intercollegiate athletics by providing opportunities to educate students interested in this field. – Provide broad based and specific experience to students through internship opportunities and student worker positions. – Serve as an ambassador of the University and its Athletics Department to all public entities. – Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: – Ability to work extended daily hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
– Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) from a regionally accredited institution.
– Three (3) years’ experience working in athletics at a college/university or comparable preferred. |
