Purpose

Assist the head coach with planning and implementing programs to support student-athlete development.

Essential Functions

Work with the student-athlete in development of all aspects of the college experience. Work with the head coach on a curriculum to promote healthy behavior and effective lifestyle choices for the student-athlete. Work with the head coach to develop a curriculum that helps the student-athlete prepare for a successful life after college basketball. Work with the head coach on a daily basis in the implementation and execution of the coaching staff’s student-athlete mentoring program. Foster and enhance relationships within the athletic department and university communities that will continue to align the men’s basketball program with the core values of the institution and Texas Athletics. Work as a liaison with appropriate departments to ensure student-athletes are provided appropriate support related to individual needs. Collaborate with student services staff to enrich the student-athlete experience through the coordination of programs designed to develop and enhance their personal and professional skill-sets. Work with student services in developing community service programs aligned with the mission of the men’s program and Texas Athletics. Work with the head coach and assistant coaches to help the student-athlete develop strategies to enhance their athletic and academic focus. Connect with the coaching staff on methods to improve on-court student-athlete performance and their overall skill-sets. Assist coaching staff in their identification, evaluation, data collection, and review of video prospects by using available sources e.g. recruiting services, internet, event websites, etc. and as permitted. Monitor permissible web sites at the discretion of the coaching staff to provide them updates on committed prospects and prospects coaches identify.
