Manhattan College, an NCAA Division 1 Institution and member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), is seeking a qualified candidate for a 12-month, full time position as a First Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach. The First Assistant Coach supports the Head Coach in leading the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball program by assisting in recruiting and developing qualified student athletes, supervising assistant coaches and organizing schedules. The First Assistant Coach must conduct the program in a manner that recognizes the importance of academics by recruiting, supporting, and retaining student-athletes while will be competitive in the MAAC. The First Assistant Coach must ensure that the Men’s Basketball program operates in compliance of all College, MAAC and NCAA rules and regulations.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Scouting of current and future opponents
  • Liaison to:<ul “list-style-type:=”” circle”=””>
  • Student Athlete Academic Support Services
  • Office of Admissions
  • Scheduling of future opponents
  • Management of film and editing software and platforms
  • Recruiting of prospective student-athletes
  • Individual player development
  • Other duties as assigned by the Head Men’s Basketball Coach

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of full-time prior experience at the collegiate level.
  • Assertive, outgoing, hardworking, and resourceful.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster positive relationships and create partnerships with a wide range of constituent groups.
  • Working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Possess a valid drivers license.
  • Required to travel and the ability to work nights, weekend, and holidays.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, strong attention to detail and keep specific timelines.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to problem solve.
  • Ability to work effectively with coaches, students, faculty, administration, alumni and members of the community.
  • Salary Range – 90,000 -95,000
