Indiana University Kokomo seeks qualified candidates for the Men’s Basketball graduate assistantship. Indiana University Kokomo athletics is an intercollegiate athletic program and a Division II member of the NAIA. IU Kokomo offers men’s and women’s cross country, women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball and men’s and women’s golf. Graduate Assistantships are part-time, 10-month academic year appointments from August 1, 2016 through May 31, 2017.

Men’s Basketball Graduate Assistant:
Reporting to the Head Coach, the graduate assistant will assist the head coach in all facets of the program. Essential duties include, but are not limited to: Demonstrate and teach advanced basketball skills; assist with coaching during athletic contests and practices; run small group workouts; monitor and assist with strength training program; assist with team schedule and travel, fund-raising, scouting opponents, recruiting and evaluating new players; assist with maintaining statistics and coordinating with officials; implementation of the academic program including enforcement of study tables and monitoring progress of student athletes to ensure academic eligibility; work with student athletes and monitor adherence to rules and regulations concerning conduct, team expectations, punctuality and appearance. Regular evening and weekend work required.

Qualifications:
Must be enrolled in a graduate program at IU Kokomo at the time of appointment; Bachelor’s degree required, minimum of two years basketball coaching or playing experience, and a valid driver’s license. Additional requirements include proficiency with Microsoft Office, excellent communication skills, demonstrated orientation toward quality service and teamwork, and demonstrated leadership and organizational skills.

This is a part-time position averaging 20 hours per week. Compensation includes fee remission (in-state tuition rate) for a maximum of 18 credit hours per 12-month period beginning with the start of the fall semester with at most, 9 hours in any semester or combined summer session and a total stipend of $7000 over the 10-month appointment, and eligibility for the graduate student health insurance program.
