Catawba College, located in Salisbury, North Carolina, is looking for a Graduate Assistant for the Catawba College Men’s Basketball program. Catawba College Graduate programs offers Business Administration (M.B.A), Clinical Mental Health Counseling (M.H.S), Sports Management (M.P.S.M) and STEM Education (M.Ed.).

This position will work with our coaching staff in all aspects of running a Division II Men’s Basketball program. Primary responsibility is to support the Head Men’s Basketball Coach, Assistant Men’s Basketball Coaches, in all facets of day to day program operations. Candidates should possess an enthusiasm for working with student-athletes, a strong basketball background, excellent oral and written communication skills, a relentless work-ethic, and a commitment to following SAC and NCAA rules.

All GA’s must adhere to their graduate program requirements and must be enrolled in graduate coursework in each semester of the appointment.

Catawba College is a Division II member of the South Atlantic Conference (SAC).

Responsibilities:  

• Will serve as a Grad Assistant coach with the varsity program; will serve as coach for the junior varsity program.
• Assist with planning and implementation of practices, scouting, and recruiting, video analysis, individual player coaching sessions, equipment, academic monitoring, and athlete fitness programs.
• NCAA compliance paperwork.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
• Assist Coaching Staff with Player Development program including leading individual workouts.
• Assist with Video Operations including filming of events as assigned, video clipping, and film exchange.
• Assist with Travel Planning and Operations including transportation, lodging, and meal coordination.
• Assist in recruitment mailing program.
• Assist the coaching staff with practice set up, drills, and breakdown.
• Oversee the tracking of key statistics for games and practices.
• Oversee the Student Manager Program.
• Class and meal checks as assigned.
• Assist the Coaching Staff with any other tasks as assigned.
