WORK SCHEDULE: Employed for a 12 month basis with a standard work week of 20 hours a considerable amount night and weekend hours will be required.
Contract start date: June 16, 2026 Contract end date: June 15, 2027 Tuition Remission: 18 Credit hours Total Stipend Amount: $7,550.00 PRIMARY PURPOSE: Recruiting student athletes and assist ln the coaching of an intercollegiate basketball program. Will also assist in the development and effective operation of a junior varsity basketball program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Note that all functions described below must be performed, and it is normally the responsibility of the individual in this position to perform them and/or see that they are performed. Functions are categorized as essential and marginal so that consideration can be given to accommodating a person with a disability by reassigning one or more marginal functions if it is practical for such function(s) to be performed by other employee(s).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Recruitment
• Recruit, orient, supervise, and evaluate student athletes according to St. Ambrose University / Mount Mercy campus expectations and team standards of the basketball program.
• Assist in meeting annual recruitment goals of the program.
2. Coaching
• Assist in supporting academic achievement of student athletes and make referrals to campus services as needed.
• Assist in regularly scheduled practices during preseason and the regular season.
• Assist in driving the vehicle used for transporting players to and from University sponsored contests that are not covered under the Department policy regarding coach bus transportation.
• Promotes positive public relations within the College and community
• Abide by conference rules/regulations, as well as the University Coaching Manual at all times.
• Assist in all aspects of basketball program, including the effective operation of a junior varsity program.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the head coach or Athletic Director.
• Conducts the program (i.e. run practices) when assigned by Head Coach.
• Provides expertise in skills and fundamentals of Basketball
• Attends all varsity and junior varsity intercollegiate basketball games with the team unless otherwise assigned by Head Coach or Athletic Director.
3. Perform other duties and tasks as appropriately assigned which contribute to achieving the goals of the student services departments in particular and the well-being of the University in general.
