Salary: Tuition, meal plan, campus housing OR Tuition plus a $6,000 stipend.

  •  The Graduate Assistant Men’s Basketball coach, assists with all phases of coaching an intercollegiate team, including recruiting, scouting, game management, promotions, and supporting our student athletes on and off the floor.  A strong work ethic and passion for college athletics is required.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Recruit student-athletes according to University of Rio Grande and NAIA practices.
  • Assists in preparing events and practices.
  • Carries out scouting assignments as outlined by the Head Coach
  • Cooperates with other staff to ensure that the student-athlete is provided with services to succeed academically and personally.
  • Maintains good relationship with alumnus, parents, officials, volunteers, and fans.
  • Oversee the strength and conditioning programs of our student athletes in and out of season within the head coaches guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as requested by the Head Coach.
  • Weekend work, irregular hours, travel, and physical demands are required for this position.
  • Assist with the developmental program as necessary.

Other Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Update Coaches Recruiting in and out of season.
  • Maintain practice and game facility as applicable.
  • Transporting student athletes or recruits to airport for arrival and departure
  • Ability to operate social media in accordance to school policy.
  • Ability to create edits / photoshop for social media accounts is preferred.


  • Responsible for the direct supervision of student-athletes, and student staff.


  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a small college setting and the ability to balance all student-athlete needs.
  • Valid drivers license is preferred
  • Ability to recruit and retain student-athletes.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Drive (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with Synergy is preferred
  • High school and college playing experience preferred
